What sets Combatant Gentlemen out among the competition?

Combatant Gentlemen, the California-based stylish menswear company, has only a 6-year history. It was founded in 2012, it gained popularity and a customer base quickly, and it is back on track today under new ownership. But what is it that lead it up in the first place, by attracting and keeping fans and customers?

The Combatant Gentlemen company produces mainly men’s suits. Its products range from outfits which can be worn on a typical office day or job interview, to more stylish models designed for special occasions or weddings. The products inventory includes some separate menswear items and accessories too, such as shirts, blazers, pants, shoes, belts, ties, and suit bags. But all this is nothing new so far. Good tailors are employed everywhere, and many sites offer a variety of men’s suits and additional items. So where is the advantage of Combatgent?

One example will settle this. All suits from the Essential collection are priced $128 USD. All suits from the Mezzanine collection are priced $208 USD.  So are the outfits from the featured new Lost$ Found collection. If you need something more formal, all tuxedos go at $180 USD.  Brown cap toe lace up oxfords cost $72 a pair. All ties cost $13. A navy three-piece wedding suit is $160.

Prices lower than expected usually arouse suspicion. To achieve a low retail price, manufacturers have many ways to reduce production costs. Unfortunately, some of these include compromises with fabric quality and employee expertise. Moreover, a great deal of the added cost results from relying on middlemen along the chain between raw materials – ready product. Middlemen are there to make a profit, so the buyer ends up paying for this – and has to put up with quality that could definitely be better. But with Combatant Gentlemen buyers, this is not the case.

CG has always followed a company policy of eliminating middlemen or outsourcing. In this way, they can make a reasonable profit and still not compromise the quality of their products. So, the company goes as far back along the production chain as owning flocks of sheep or cattle herds, where the raw materials come from. So, a CG $128 suit (or $160 at the regular price without the current July 4th discount) will have more to offer in the way of quality than its competitors.  A customer will enjoy 100% wool, leather, silk or cotton, all coming from the same Shandong region in Northern China, as well as competent tailoring. So a brand means a lot, but what comes behind the brand is essential.
